Description Why muck up home made goodies with artificial colors? With India Tree's vegetable-based Natural Decorating Colors you don't have to. Combine just three colors—red, yellow, and blue to create a full spectrum: Yellow + Red = Orange; Yellow + Blue = Green; Blue + Red = Purple, Lavender, and Violet.
Important usage notes:
- With one package of coloring, we have decorated four large batches of cookies over the course of a year, and still have more color left. Kept in the fridge, these colors will last quite a while.
- Natural food colors are generally not as intense as artificial, so it may take some experimenting to get used to working with them. The red especially tends toward pink rather than true red.
- Test in a small amount of your frosting before coloring the whole batch. Start with just a few drops and add more as needed.
- Please be aware the yellow can impart a turmeric flavor (because it is made from the spice turmeric). In our own cookie frosting projects, we have noticed that this flavor dissipates by the next day.
- These colors are not intended for egg-dying. They just don't stick to the shell.
- Working with natural colors, you can still have fun making beautiful, edible works of art! We'll post a photo gallery soon. Send irene@naturalcandystore.com photos of your favorite natural decorating projects and we'll add them to the gallery when it's ready.
