Making your own gingerbread house just got a lot easier with this all-natural kit! Inspired by their own annual experience with their own children, the folks at Dancing Deer Bakery created this kit to simplify the process. Contains:
32 oz bag of Gingerbread Cookie Dough Mix (makes the house as directed plus 10-12 boy and girl cookies)
16 oz bag of Royal Icing Mix (more than enough to glue the house together and put lots of piping all over the house)
Piping bag for the icing
2 cookie cutters (boy and girl)
The box is the template for cutting the pieces and the form around which the house is built.
You'll need to add 2 eggs, a stick of butter and, of course, candy decorations!
I am coming back for more mix so I can have some to eat. I cut the house sections before baking. Then I cut them again after the cookie pieces have that ready-to-eat look. (Like most cookies the dough spreads) I put the house pieces back in the oven for a few minutes more so they get sturdy and lose most of their moisture. I enjoy eating the scraps after the first baking. Most places have the pre-cooked gingerbread. I have not tried it becuase this is too good. I think the ginger flavor is noticeable and not too strong and I like it that way. Posted By: Heidi on Dec 15, 2012
