A: Hi Andrea, This food paint will last for at least one year if stored properly, that is away from heat, direct light and moisture in a cool, dry place, i.e. tightly sealed in the original container in a dark cupboard. Once hydrated in its liquid form, it will last for a few hours or maybe more depending on the environment and can be refrigerated for up to one week or frozen up to 6 months in liquid form.

Q: Hi, is this product strictly for painting, or can it be directly added to frostings or icings for color?
Answered by Natural Candy Store, January 14, 2019 at 03:12:29 PM EST.
A: Hi Jan, That is a great question. I reached out to the supplier and this is what they responded with: " The regular airbrush colors can be added into icing, the shine airbrush colors must be on the surface for the mineral to reflect the light so you can't add shine to icing as icing will cover the minerals. You can add the shine colors to clear piping gel with AMAZING results!!!"
We hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Q: Is this to paint on top of sugar cookies? Or .... ideas ?
Answered by Natural Candy Store, November 15, 2016 at 09:03:57 PM EST.
A: Hi, Yes, it could be painted directly on sugar cookies, or on top of hardened icing. It is designed to be applied on the surface. If you mixed it into a frosting, for example, it would probably get lost. It might take some experimenting to get the effect wanted and depending on the application.

Q: Can this be used when making popcorn to change the color and give it some sweetness?
Answered by Natural Candy Store, March 7, 2017 at 04:37:59 PM EST.
A: Hi KC, This would require some experimenting to say for sure if the Gold Shine Natural Food Paint would work on popcorn. However, our guess is that while if you dusted the powder directly on, it might make the popcorn look a little sparkly. But this product is designed to be added to a small amount of water and painted on surfaces. Also, we would not expect it to add any sweetness since it's really just the color. Hope that helps!

Q: Can this product be used with an airbrush machine?
Answered by Natural Candy Store, January 9, 2018 at 10:44:27 AM EST.
A: Hi Z.Sugar! Thank you for your question about the Gold SHine Natural Food Paint! Yes Gold Shine can be used with either a paintbrush or an airbrush to paint a dry food surface. The light reflective shine colors, like Gold Shine, are made with natural minerals and may spray better with a Siphon airbrush or an airbrush gun that has a bottle underneath the airbrush gun as mica particles like to settle to the bottom of the cup, lay flat and block the orifice. However most airbrush guns should work ok. Hope this helps!

Q: Can the powder be used in its dry form without mixing with water and brushed directly on to a dry surface?
Answered by Natural Candy Store, January 20, 2020 at 12:00:18 PM EST.
A: Good Morning! That is a great question about the Shine Natural Food Paints. The Shine Powders require water to activate the water-soluble dehydrated plant color they are made with. It is not a dust, therefore, water is needed. You can add alcohol to the mixture after it has been dissolved with water to make it dry faster; or if you are in a very humid environment. They must be sprayed on with an airbrush gun or applied with a paintbrush. We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
