Taza Chocolate

Taza Chocolate crafts bold, stone ground chocolate that is "Seriously Good and Fair for All". Rooted in the authentic, rustic flavors of Oaxaca, Mexico, Taza founder (Alex) brought the inspiration of stone ground chocolate to Somerville, MA, where he and his wife (Kathleen), created a unique chocolate experience. Taza's unrefined, minimally processed chocolate is made using hand-carved granite mill stones, preserving the natural complexity of organic cacao for an unforgettable taste and texture.

As a leader in ethical sourcing, Taza was the first U.S. chocolate maker to establish a third-party certified Direct Trade Cacao program. Committed to integrity, Taza builds direct relationships with cacao farmers, paying a premium above Fair Trade prices to support both the environment and workers' rights. The result is a chocolate that's both delicious and rooted in respect for all who help bring it to life.
